I went to the doctor about a month ago, frustrated with exasperated symptoms over the last few months. After long discussions, he suggested that I start taking some bowel specific pro-biotics called lactobacillus sporogenes - big name. From the research info he gave me, it said that they cured constipation permanently in 70% of people who took it. I was willing to give them a try - they were only $32 so not a big investment but a huge payoff if they worked.
I started taking them right away and the first two weeks I noticed little changes but nothing significant. Then a miracle happened - all my symptoms, food sensitivities, bloating, bowel irregularity, everything disappeared. I ate pizza for the first time in years - real pizza with real cheese, not the hard dry gluten and cheese free type. Over the last two weeks of taking the pills I tightened my belt two holes, it got rid of the bloating I didn't know I had!
Now, I'm not giving medical advice and I'm not even recommending that you try them but I just thought I'd mention it in case anyone is interested.
After I finished the bottle, my symptoms returned but on further discussions with my doctor we decided that I would try taking them for another couple of weeks and then reduce the dosage (I'm currently taking 3 a day), to see how little I can take before I get my symptoms back.
I must say, I was a little scared to experiment with the whole eating wheat thing. I didn't go all out and eat everything I said I would if I could ever eat it again. I just had a few little bits and pieces - soft white bread being one of them. It would be very weird for me not to be gluten free and don't worry, I will still be cooking gluten free and making yummy baking as Jenna has not yet tried the magic pills. I've included a picture of the bottle (apologies for the blurriness) in case anyone does want to try some.
