Happy weekend my friend! So this happened yesterday. You might be wondering what, exactly is going on in this photo. This is the cabin that has been sitting on our side yard for the last 3.5 years (since we moved in). First, it was our office when four of us worked here, then it became Jesse’s bedroom when I worked at home alone.
Now that Andy and I are empty nesters, we had no need for it anymore. That’s actually not quite true as we could have made good use of it, but we have plans for the space so it was time for it to go.
It felt like the end of an era (a short one but an era all the same). It was a bit hard to see it go, it made it official that my youngest is now gone. Sob!
Well, we are truly into winter right now – it’s been raining for days, almost non-stop. This is a good thing because the garden was looking really dry and there’s always the fear of water restrictions in the summer if it doesn’t rain enough in the winter.
It was also the first birthday of Affordable Jewellery Supplies last week so we celebrated by giving the gifts to our customers. I can’t believe it’s been a whole year!
Over the past couple of weeks on the blog I’ve shared a couple of projects. I also continued my five minute earring series of tutorials.
You had me at hoops! I love hoop earrings and these ones are no exception. These Teardrop Hoop Earrings are very delicate and quite classic with their pearls.
We are also giving away a kit to win these so if you would like to go into the draw make sure you watch the video to find out how to enter the competition.
Also, as part of the series I shared this super easy earring tutorial. All you need to be able to do is open and close a jump ring – and if you don’t know how, I’ll show you. I’ve had lots of great feedback about these Dragon Scale Earrings.
In preparation for the sale of my dining suite, I reupholstered my chairs and shared a tutorial. It was one of those projects that escalated from a cleaning project to an upholstery project – it was not my intention to reupholster them.
Lastly, I shared a project I had done ages ago but forgot to share – the makeover of my dining and lounge room lights. This was a really fun project that had a big payoff. I did have my concerns about whether they are big enough for the space. If you have an opinion, let me know in the comments section.
This week I’ve gathered a few projects that I would like to do around my home.
Leslie from Feet Under My Table had to do an unexpected makeover of her front porch – it’s a really beautiful makeover but you won’t believe what made it happen.
This recipe has left me dreaming of summer – I know I could make them with frozen strawberries but it’s just not the same. Instead of eating strawberries, I’m planting them in the hope that they produce more than they did last year.
These look incredibly inviting.
I fell in love with this porch. I want one! I love the colours and the style and just the whole idea of having a covered in porch where you can enjoy the sun without the wind. In case you don’t know, Wellington, where I live, is renowned for its wind!
I also thought I would share this blog post containing lots of summer home tours. Obviously, it’s winter whereI am but that doesn’t mean that I can’t be thinking about summer decorating.(Dreaming of hot summer days and long cool drinks.) While Kim has shared how she’s updated her home for summer, she also shares links to other beautiful homes.
So, sit down with a cuppa and take a look.
Well, that’s it for this week. I hope you’ve had a great week and are planning a wonderful weekend.
Until next week!
