This weekend was the first two days of my year long Herbal Diploma Course at Cottage Hill Herbs - and what a weekend it was! It was truly amazing.
We spent Saturday morning discussing the course, plants and the different types of remedies - tinctures, infused oils, essential oils, decoctions, etc.
In the afternoon we went out into the garden to identify some of the plants. What a lovely way to spend a day.
On Sunday, we spent most of the day indoors, although we did venture out into the garden to dig up some comfrey root. We then took that inside and made all sorts of remedies from both the leaves and the roots.
Comfrey was the herb of the day which was really appropriate for me as I've been using comfrey to help my husband heal from his surgery last August. It's a herb I love and clearly, I had greatly under estimated it's abilities. That won't happen again.
I came home excited, with a huge amount of notes and an assignment to write a three page essay (something I haven't done in a long time) about apothecary.
I just know that I'm going to really enjoy this year long course. I'm so excited about what I'm learning and implications it will have on, not only my view of the World, but also how I care for my family. Stay tuned to hear how it progresses.
