You know that I love blue and I love stretch bracelets so today I’m combining those two things into one tutorial to make a triple strand stretch bracelet. I’ll also be showing you how to tie the knot so that it doesn’t come undone.
Here’s the materials you need to make this bracelet:
Please watch the video or read the instructions below.
This is an optional step to create a layout tool that you can use whenever you make a multi-strand bracelet. I use this time and time again.
To make the cardboard design board, measure the card at 1cm intervals up each of the short sides. Fold the card back and forth along these lines to make a concertina.
Lay the beads out along three of the tracks of the cardboard design board in the following order:
Cut a length of elastic approximately 60cm long. Stretch the elastic by pulling it quite tight so that it stretches out before you use it. Thread on a paper clip then bring the ends together, placing the paper clip in the centre. This is used as a placeholder.
Thread both ends of the elastic through the needle of the Big Eye Needle. Thread strand 1 above onto the elastic. Thread the needle through the 40mm bead.
I would suggest that you watch the video at this point to see how I tie the knot. Basically, you remove the paperclip, thread the needle through the loop and then you’re going to tie a knot. Next, take the elastic under the beads, crossing the elastic over, then back up and tie another knot. Repeat several times. Trim the ends leaving about 5mm tail, and pop the knot inside the large bead.
Repeat this process with the other two strands.
I love that this bracelet looks great on the back as well.
I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial about how to make a triple strand bracelet. As I said in the video, I did have a few issues getting the last strand through the bead but my black elastic was a 1mm width so it may have just been because of that. Please leave me a comment below and let me know if you make this bracelet and whether you have any issues like I did.
If you’re keen to make any of the jewellery I’m wearing in the video here’s the tutorials:
I have not yet done a tutorial for the earrings but if you would like me to, please let me know in the comments section below.
