I have a question for you - am I the only one who mends things these days?
I made (embroidered) this sheet years ago and I love it. In fact, it's one of the few that fit our bed, so when I noticed that it was starting to get a big frayed around the edges I was horrified that it might be time for it to retire.
BEFORE - FRAYED EDGES.
NO! That wouldn't do. I love it too much and I want it to last forever!
Well, I know it's not going to last forever but there was something I could do to make it last at least a little longer, I was sure. So as Sheldon (The Big Bang Theory) would say, I put my thinking cap on and came up with an idea - and a rather good idea, I thought.
I had this white ribbon lying around, left over from another project, so I simply stitched it right along the edge of the sheet. I tucked the ends in neatly and stitched back up the other side. Now my beautiful sheet will live to see another day and I'm happy.
It got me to thinking though, that this would add a nice coloured accent to any sheet if you wanted something subtle (or not). How about it? Want to give it a go? It's easy I promise.
