That makes it sound like I've been doing something exciting over the last few days. The reality is that the family room has come together over the last two years and as I've been adding components I haven't blogged about it. So, because I finished my fireside chairs I thought that I'd show you a taste of what it looks like.
It all started with this frightfully bright hot pink ottoman that Andy and I made a couple of years ago. We needed a solution for a coffee table, somewhere to put feet and also a place to hide the games, etc so this was what I came up with.
My handyman (Andy) made the box which has a hinged lid and I upholstered it.
I used a single mattress for the foam and covered it with batting.
I covered it in hot pink corduroy, simply because I really couldn't decide on anything else and I thought that this would be hardwearing. Turns out it's faded a bit but that's because it sits in the sun all day.
I buttoned it with silver buttons.
Sorry, don't have step by step instructions but maybe one day I'll make another one.
Next I have to show you the couch. We picked up this couch in our Midnight Couch Raid and since then it's had a makeover. Here's what it looked like before (this is after the clean - it was filthy).
Here's what it looks like in our family room with it's pretty pink and aqua cushions.
Now to the fireside chairs. I picked these up on TradeMe last year and reupholstered them. You can read about that here.
So there you have it, a quick tour of our family room.
